Psalm 16:11.
You make known to me the path of life; you fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
In a season where I faced so many difficulties I found myself grumbling and complaining constantly. My times with the Lord had become a list of complaints and “Fix this Lord!” I became so focused on the circumstances that I was not enjoying my time with the Lord or life itself. The Lord led me to the verse in Psalm 16 one morning and to repent of an ungrateful heart. “What did it mean to dwell in His presence?” “How did I sit at His right hand?” “What were those pleasures?” “Could I find joy even in miserable circumstances?” His answer was a resounding yes! Over the years I have learnt to come into His presence through praise and worship, through meditating on His word and lastly by having a thankful heart. I started a gratitude journal where I started off by putting two things a day to be thankful for and ended up with ten a day! What we think about leads to how we feel. My focus changed to thinking about my problems to just thinking about this God who loved and cared for me so much. Reminding ourselves of who God is and what He has done in the past changes how we feel. Beholding him brings much joy.
