PSALM 77
PSALM 77: 19
“Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.”
I was staring out the window watching the heavy downpour of rain, coming from thick, heavy, and grey clouds. The weather and atmosphere seemed to match my inner atmosphere as I was feeling discouraged. “God where are you? Don’t you care? Why aren’t you doing anything about my situation?” It seemed to me that God didn’t care and had left me to sort out my own problems.
That day God led me to Psalm 77: 19 and reminded me of how He had led the Israelites through the Red Sea. They must have been so terrified and confused as they saw the pharaoh and his army behind them and the massive, overwhelming sea in front of them. What could they do? There seemed no way out of this one.
God came through as He always does, maybe not in the way they quite expected. They had to put their feet on the path that led through the sea. I can all most hear them questioning this command. “What if the sea on either side came crashing down on them? Would they drown? What choice did they have?” Even though they could not see Him visibly, God delivered His people that day.
Lord teach me to trust that you are always there for me and that you are my deliverer.
Amen.
