Psalm 18.
Psalm 18:33-33 “It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; He enables me to stand on heights.”
There are seasons in my life when the struggles, trials and subsequent discouragement seem to overwhelm me. During these times I feel like l have been climbing a mountain, and I just cannot carry on. I feel weary, and I find myself telling the Lord “Stop! I want to rest here for a while. Please don’t let me climb this mountain anymore. It’s so difficult and challenging!”
His reply is always “I am with you. You don’t have to do this on your own. I am the one who gives you strength to overcome.”
The psalmist in Psalm 18 must have been feeling the same way when he wrote this psalm, and he discovered that He had a God who could make him sure-footed like that of a deer. God is indeed the one who arms us with strength for the battle and who enables us to stand on heights. He brings us to that summit, and to a place where we never thought we would get to.
Like the psalmist, we are urged to let God give us strength for the journey and to let God be the one who helps us when we stumble. Trust and lean on our God. He is so dependable and faithful.
Dear Lord,
We cry out to you today to bless us with your strength, to help us be sure-footed and above all to trust and lean on you all the days of our lives especially during our times of struggle.
Amen.
